Solid Parfum

Note: If you have tried solid perfumes before, you know they can be a little hard, but these will melt nicely with a little bit of heat from your fingers.

We heard you. We know you love our original recipe Clove Solid Perfume, but wished it was a little softer. That's the thing with original recipes. Sometimes they are great as is and sometimes they need a little help. Historically apothecaries would change their own recipes as they saw fit. Just because a recipe was printed in the quarterly pharmaceutical magazines doesn't mean that your local pharmacist or apothecaries wouldn't change it. In fact, I love reading these old magazines to see their original questions regarding compounding and chemical processes using or changing these original recipes. So long story short that is what we did with the original victorian formula for our original 1893 Original Victorian Solid Perfume Recipe. We made it a bit softer for you. We kept the original formula but added extra almond oil and took out the glycerin. Then we took the original oils that make up our fabulous Jane's Garden and put them into this scrumptious formula. Now we have the most amazing semi-soft solid perfume that you don't have to dig your fingernail in to apply. YAY!

TRY IT!!
Take a stroll through Jane Austen's Garden and transport yourself back to a different time. We based this wonderful perfume on popular historical flowers and scents as well as various flowers from Jane's garden. We combined them all in a historical context that you will love. So get ready to take a walk in Jane's Garden with this lovely woodsy-flowery English garden botanical scent. It's not over-powdering at all-just a great scent we think you will love. Fresh and Clean

What does this smell like:
This would be described as a woody white clean floral scent.

History of Solid Perfumes:
Unguents and different types of semi-solid perfumed products existed in various forms throughout history. The late 19th century ushered in a new modern perfumery movement by introducing synthetic scents and products. In this recipe, I was intrigued by the ingredients becuase instead of calling for beeswax, it called for paraffin- which was patented in 1850 and was one of those "new" ingredients that improved the lives of the Victorians. We used soy paraffin.

OK so how do you use solid perfumes?

For our solid perfumes, we suggest breaking that top layer. You can use a finger and apply it to the skin at the pulse points. You can also take a piece of cloth or a sponge and put some of this on and put it in your aromatherapy lockets.

Jane Austen’s Garden in a semi-solid beautiful-smelling perfume that will travel! Now you can be whisked away to Jane’s garden any time!

Please note: These are formulated for warmer climates. If you live in a colder climate, you will need to keep it warm in your pocket or in the sun on the dash of the car.
